This Analysis of Fingerprint Refill Kit introduces students to the fascinating world of fingerprint analysis. They'll learn and practice six standard techniques for dusting, lifting, and developing latent fingerprints on smooth, nonporous surfaces. Techniques include using carbon and aluminum powders, the Ninhydrin method for detecting amino acids, the Lugol's Iodine method for detecting lipids, cyanoacrylate fuming, and the sticky-side powder technique. Students will also learn to identify latent and direct prints, compare fingerprints to FBI standards, and analyze evidence using Modus Operandi sheets to identify suspects. Each investigative group prepares "fingerprint evidence" for another group to analyze, creating a dynamic and collaborative learning experience.
